Who West Ham could face in the Europa League and when
HITC

They will enter at the third qualifying round stage this season, the same round in which they crashed out last year at the hands of Romanian minnows Astra Giurgiu.

But who might Slaven Bilic's side face this year and when?

Entering at this stage of the competition - there is one more two-legged play-off after that to make the Europa League proper - are the following:

5 domestic cup winners from associations 13-17
9 domestic league third-placed teams from associations 7-15
5 domestic league fourth-placed teams from associations 5-9
3 domestic league fifth-placed teams from associations 4-6 (League Cup winners for France)
3 domestic league sixth-placed teams from associations 1-3 (League Cup winners for England)
33 winners from second qualifying round

Who lies in wait

Other teams entering at the same stage as the Hammers include Celta Vigo, Saint-Etienne, Pandurii Targu Jiu, Krasnodar, Viitorul Constanța, Hertha BSC, Spartak Moscow, İstanbul Başakşehir, Rapid Wien, Sassuolo, Vorskla Poltava, AEK Athens, Rijeka, Arouca, FC Oleksandriya, Rio Ave, AZ, Mlada Boleslav, Lille and Slovan Liberec.

They will be joined by the winners of the second qualifying round ties, the most notable of which are IFK Goteborg, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibernian, FK Partizan, Maribor, Austria Wien, Slavia Prague and manager Slaven Bilic's boyhood club Hadjuk Split.

The draw for the third qualifying round is made on July 15th and the first leg will be played on July 28th with the second leg scheduled to take place on August 4th.

That second game comes three days before the Hammers are due to officially open their new 60,000 Olympic Stadium home with a prestige friendly against Italian giant Juventus.

Is there any seeding involved or could we potentially draw other teams who enter at this stage with us?

There are some good teams there.

Just hope Bilic doesn't try to get through by just doing enough with a weakened team. Too risky.

We need to go all out to get into this as its important and is part of our natural progression as a club.

We have been given a second chance here and need to take it.

Teams are divided into seeded and unseeded teams based on their UEFA club coefficients, and then drawn into two-legged home-and-away ties. Teams from the same association cannot be drawn against each other.

No offence, but that isn't a list of who we could play at all is it?

As I understood it, we'll be seeded and therefore won't play the majority of teams mentioned there.

Or have I got it wrong?

is it too much for people just to wait and see who we actually draw? are you all children?

Re: Who West Ham could face in the Europa League and when
In the 3rd round, we wont play any team from Germany, Italy Portugal and almost for sure France or Russia.

Their nation co-efficient (like ours) is too high.

All I know is that the three Norwegian teams are not too far from Oslo, so I'm selfishly hoping you all get forced to come up here and pay out your noses for the piss up.

Stabæk are almost in Oslo; Strømgodset is only half hour west, and Odd/Grenland is only an hour or so away. However, i notice none of them are on this list for starting in teh 3rd round.

July 15th is certainly a date for the diary.

Re: Who West Ham could face in the Europa League and when
Barring one of the British teams coming through from the lower rounds, the closest travel looks to someone like Heracles Almelo, in the Netherlands (though that is a bit inland) still or if Charleroi were to win their playoff thing and come through the second round.

Be really nice but that means they would have to win a round or two. Not sure Llandudno F.C. and Connah's Quay Nomads F.C.have that in them. But we can dream.

Its a pity Sydney FC are not invited to play, after all the Aussies did nearly win the Eurovision song contest.

I could at leasts attend the Away leg...........................if we drew them!
